چکیده

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of selective laser trabeculoplasty in the treatment of patients with glaucomatocyclitic crisis. Methods: This was a retrospective case series study. 10 patients with uncontrolled intraocular pressure using maximally tolerated medical treatment were included in our study. 360o selective laser trabeculoplasty was performed during the intermission of glaucomatocyclitic crisis. Intraocular pressure reduction and best-corrected visual acuity were recorded during the recurrence of this disease. Adverse events were recorded after treatment. Results: The mean intraocular pressure (IOP) significantly decreased from 46.20± 7.16 to 14.50 ± 0.89 mmHg, with a statistically significant difference (p = 0.0001) after a mean recurrence time of 6 ± 13.35 months. The mean best corrected visual acuity( BCVA) significantly improved from 0.79 ± 0.08 to 0.98 ± 0.15, with significantly statistic difference (p = 0.03). No significant local or systemic adverse effects were observed after treatment. Conclusions: SLT was effective and safe in the management of glaucomatocyclitic crisis eyes. Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty: A Clinical Review.

UNLABELLED Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a safe and effective treatment modality for lowering the intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma. It achieves its results by selective absorption of energy in the trabecular pigmented cells, sparing adjacent cells and tissues from thermal damage, with minimal morphological tissue alteration following treatment. On the basis of the peer-...

Selective laser trabeculoplasty versus argon laser trabeculoplasty in patients with uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma.

PURPOSE To compare the efficacy of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) to argon laser trabeculoplasty (ALT) as treatment and retreatment to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma (OAG) on maximally tolerated medication therapy with a follow-up of 12 months. METHODS A total of 120 eyes of 120 patients with uncontrolled OAG were enrolled in the stud...

Immediate intraocular pressure response to selective laser trabeculoplasty.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Selective laser trabeculoplasty targets the pigmented trabecular meshwork cells without damage to the trabecular meshwork architecture in vitro. A study was conducted in vivo of eight eyes with uncontrolled open angle glaucoma to ascertain the immediate intraocular response to selective laser trabeculoplasty. METHODS The trabecular meshwork of each eye was treated 360 degrees ...

Comparing the effectiveness of selective laser trabeculoplasty with topical medication as initial treatment (the Glaucoma Initial Treatment Study): study protocol for a randomised controlled trial

BACKGROUND Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the world. Estimated to affect 60 million people worldwide, this figure is expected to rise to 80 million by 2020. Untreated, glaucoma leads to visual decay and eventually to blindness, and can significantly reduce quality of life. First-line treatment in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and exfoliative glaucoma is t...
